Transforming Education through Experiential Learning and Interdisciplinary Teaching

Summary

Dr. Burga’s research on teaching and learning methods has increasingly highlighted the importance of incorporating experiential learning and interdisciplinary approaches in education. As a University Teaching Leadership Fellow in Interdisciplinary and Experiential Teaching and Learning, Dr. Burga is devoting research to exploring how experiential learning, which emphasizes hands-on experiences and active engagement, can enhance students' meaningful learning. By immersing themselves in real-world scenarios, students can apply theoretical concepts to practical situations, fostering deeper learning and critical thinking skills. Additionally, interdisciplinary teaching methods, which integrate multiple academic disciplines, encourage students to make connections across different subjects and explore complex problems from various perspectives. This approach nurtures creativity, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to tackle real-world challenges that often require collaboration and interdisciplinary thinking. Dr. Burga’s research is at the juncture of practical and academic scholarship as it evolves into the incorporation of experiential learning and interdisciplinary teaching methods to provide students with meaningful learning experiences and equip them with the skills necessary for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
